I have taken a lot of sunset photos, because sunsets look good and I do not like to get up early enough to take sunrise photos. Today's photo was a hurried operation. I glanced out the window and noticed the colors of the sunset over the neighboring houses. I grabbed my camera and rushed outside.
There is an abandoned farm about two blocks from the house. I drove because I knew that I was quickly losing the light. I did not have the time to grab my tripod, so I shot handheld. I set the ISO to 1600 and the aperture to f5.3 wide open for my Nikon 18-105 DX lens. I shot on manual and underexposed by 2 stops to capture the scene accurately. I also bracketed around that exposure in case I wanted to try HDR processing. I ended going with just some adjustments in Lightroom and a tweak in Topaz Adjust.
